Rare Event-Triggered Transitions in Aerodynamic Bifurcation

چکیده
The transitions between two states of a bistable system are investigated experimentally and analyzed in the framework rare-event statistics. Considering disk pendulum swept by flow wind tunnel, bistability aerodynamic branches is observed, with spontaneous from one branch to other. waiting times before transition distributed following double-exponential as function control parameter, spanning four orders magnitude time, for both transitions. Inspired model originally applied turbulence, we show that, pendulum, controlled rare events forces acting on which propose link particular vortex shedding-induced fluctuations. Beyond aspects, this work has interesting fundamental outcomes regarding broad field out-of-equilibrium systems.

Rare-Event Sampling of Epigenetic Landscapes and Phenotype Transitions
Stochastic simulation has been a powerful tool for studying the dynamics of gene regulatory networks, particularly in terms of understanding how cell-phenotype stability and fate-transitions are impacted by noisy gene expression. However, gene networks often have dynamics characterized by multiple attractors. Stochastic simulation is often inefficient for such systems, because most of the simul...

متن کاملEvent-Triggered and Self-Triggered Control
Recent developments in computer and communication technologies have led to a new type of large-scale resource-constrained wireless embedded control systems. It is desirable in these systems to limit the sensor and control computation and/or communication to instances when the system needs attention. However, classical sampled-data control is based on performing sensing and actuation periodicall...
متن کاملEvent-Triggered Optimization
This section introduces an event-triggered distributed algorithm that solves network utility maximization (NUM) problems in large-scale networked systems [18, 17]. Existing distributed algorithms for the NUM problem are gradient-based schemes whose convergence to the optimal point provided the communication between subsystems is sufficiently frequent. Analytic bounds on the communication interv...
متن کاملAnalysis of Applying Event-triggered Strategy on the Model Predictive Control
In this paper, the event-triggered strategy in the case of finite-horizon model predictive control (MPC) is studied and its advantages over the input to state stability (ISS) Lyapunov based triggering rule is discussed. In the MPC triggering rule, all the state trajectories in the receding horizon are considered to obtain the triggering rule. Clearly, the finite horizon MPC is sub-optimal with ...
